Space Destruction Derbies Coming Back in Elite: Dangerous
Destruction is a fun thing to participate in, and tin assist to alleviate any boredom in infinite. Particularly in Elite: Unsafe. Devastation derbies are making their way dorsum into the game via a mechanism that forgoes fines for all players involved, if everyone uses the mechanism.

Space demolition derbies make a comeback with a blindside in Elite: Dangerous as Frontier Developments adds the ability to atone participants of crimes or fines.
Apparently it was a common do to but shoot at random unsuspecting players as they tried to dock or go about their business organisation. As annoying as that seems, Frontier Developments started initiating a organisation of heavy fines that sought to prevent such beliefs.
That beliefs evolved into players ramming each other, equally that didn't seem accrue any fines. Of form, that was even so annoying to those that didn't desire to participate, and so Frontier Developments responded once again by leveraging fines to those that did such things.
In protestation to the harsher penalties, players so started a goat meme that filled the officialElite: Dangerousforums a well as Twitter with hilarious photos of goats or even of players ramming into stations and other players in protestation, despite the high fines.
And what tin can you possibly do against a veritable ground forces of cute goats telling yous where to stick your new rules? Change, of course. Those fluffy capra aegagrus hircus photos accept prompted Frontier Developments to actually implement some new changes.
Now they're going to be implementing a manner and so that those that want to race effectually and ram into each other a way to do so, then long as everyone gives consent.
"I'll need to cheque with some clever coder folk on this, merely I'm hopeful that we tin have this offense non squawked with "don't report crimes against me"," Sammarco wrote. "Equally long as all participants use this functionality so they would be prophylactic to race about each other - though striking spectators would still trigger the crime."
-Snadro Sammarco, Lead DesignerAristocracy: Dangerous
So, what have we learned from this? That goats are a great way to get people to modify. But seriously, if at that place is plenty of an outrage and enough benign yet hilarious activity that gets the outrage noticed, then sometimes alter tin occur. So long equally the developer is reasonable, of form. And Frontier Developments has a rails record of actually listening to its players.
